LIGHTHOUSE SOCIAL ENTERPRISE PARTICIPATED IN SHARING AT THE EVENT “ADOLESCENT SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH” AT DAN PHUONG HIGH SCHOOL

On March 24, 2023, Mr. Nguyen Viet Huy – representative of The Lighthouse Clinic – The Lighthouse Social Enterprise led a sharing session on “Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health” – an extracurricular activity at Dan Phuong High School, Hanoi. Currently, the rate of early sexual relationships among adolescents is increasing. Still, they lack the knowledge and skills to protect themselves from issues related to sexual safety, unintended pregnancy, HIV/AIDS, and sexually transmitted infections. This extracurricular activity was organized to provide students with updated information on sexual and reproductive health, comprehensive sexuality education, the opportunity to share concerns and questions, to learn about safe sexual practices and understand sexual rights, as well as a healthy lifestyle for the best health.

At the event, Mr. Viet Huy shared about sexual safety, understanding the body and oneself, respecting diversity and consensus in sexuality, as well as HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections, and preventing unintended pregnancy through common contraceptive methods, interesting games, interactive theatrical performances, and Q&A sessions. Especially, the demonstration of using condoms was enthusiastically responded to by the students. This not only provides students with more knowledge but also helps them relieve stress after hours of study, enabling them to approach a sensitive topic that is often considered inappropriate for adolescents.

Improving sexual and reproductive health for adolescents through comprehensive sexuality education with the participation of adolescents and ensuring a friendly and safe environment for them is the goal that The Lighthouse always strives for. In the future, we hope to expand this activity to more schools in many provinces and cities in Vietnam.
