⏳ 2022: WHAT HAS THE LIGHTHOUSE ACHIEVED?
Another year is about to pass, and the end of the year is an opportunity for us to reflect and look back on the journey we’ve taken. 2022 for The Lighthouse is both a challenging year and a year with many memorable milestones, there are still many concerns, but there are also “to be really something” achievements. 😉
Let’s us look back to see what has been achieved by The Lighthouse! 😉
National LGBTIQ+ Summit – Stronger Together 2022
The National LGBTIQ+ Summit is the biggest event of the year for the Vietnamese LGBTIQ+ community and also the biggest event that The Lighthouse has the opportunity to host. This year’s event brings together more than 150 LGBTIQ+ delegates and their allies to participate in a safe, open, and diverse space to discuss issues related to the Rights, Health, and Sustainable Development of the LGBTIQ+ community in Vietnam.
Studies on Violence – Inclusiveness of LGBTI+ Vietnamese People
In the past year, The Lighthouse has conducted a survey on the status of LGBTIQ+ people in Vietnam, including:
Research on gender-based violence in the LGBTI+ community in Vietnam. The study is expected to provide important data on the violence faced by LGBTI+ people and will serve as scientific evidence for advocacy work.
The complete #UPROOT scorecard tool promises to become a professional, useful and practical assessment scale for interested Organizations and Individuals and join forces towards the common goal of repelling and marking the end of the AIDS epidemic by 2030.
Besides, The Lighthouse is also one of the few units selected as a pilot to survey the LGBTI+ Inclusion Index – an important parameter that can help assess the level of integration and participation of LGBTI+ people in the community. society.
Photovoice project “Family is the Sanctuary”
Photovoice project “Family is the sanctuary” is also a bright activity of The Lighthouse in 2022. The photovoice series attracts the participation of many friends in the community along with emotional stories from the LGBTI+ family’s perspective. The photovoice series was spread along with an exhibition and a talk show where parents had the opportunity to share and understand each other.
Welcoming 5,000 patients
Since the beginning of the year, The Lighthouse has welcomed about 5,000 customers to visit. On average, each month we welcome about 450 visitors, including 150 new friends.
“Rainbow Youth Academy” Training Series
The “Rainbow Youth Academy” training series is a component of the project “Rainbow Voices” funded by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) and coordinated by The Norwegian Organization for Sexual and Gender Diversity (FRI) with the participation of many partners including The Lighthouse, The Institute for Studies of Society, Economy and Environment (iSEE), Center for Studies and Applied Sciences in Gender – Family – Women and Adolescents (CSAGA), Save the Children, and ICS Center. The training series aims to build capacity for LGBTI+ community members in 3 main aspects: Leadership – Participatory Research – Advocacy and Communication. In 2022, the training series on Leadership and Research organized by The Lighthouse attracted 66 participating slots with nearly 200 applications.
️ Along with many other cooperation activities
Last year, The Lighthouse had the honor to cooperate with many domestic and foreign organizations such as CDC USA, FRI Norway, UNDP, etc, and embassies such as The British Embassy, The Royal Dutch Embassy, The U.S. Embassy, etc. In addition, The Lighthouse also has many partners and allied organizations to cooperate for a bright future for the LGBTI+ community in Vietnam.
We had the opportunity to welcome LGBTI+ delegates and visit LGBTI+-friendly clinics in Thailand, and Lighthouse’s representatives also had the opportunity to voice their opinions at the Asia – Pacific Youth Forum, we also cooperated with the Dutch embassy and the Belgian embassy to organize two screenings of Queer movies,… there are many, many more, but briefly, so that you won’t be bored…
In the new year, please continue to follow and support Lighthouse’s activities.
